Philippines and USA @ 1st Philippine Int’l Pyromusical Competition

It was indeed a weekend of everything that flies. Just a few days after the 15th Hot Air Balloon Festival at Clark in Pampanga, Sago found himself with flying fireworks at the first Philippine International Pyromusical Competition (PIPC) last night.

Feb 21 Update: Pyromusical – Philippine Pyromusical Opening Show

It was literally a blast as the pyromusical competition host country – the Philippines, started the 1st PIPC with the opening presentation by no less than a grand display of fireworks by Platinum Fireworks, Inc.

Started a little past 7pm at the Manila Bay skies, we stayed at the gold section of the the Seaside Boulevard at the back of SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Philippines.

With a spot second only to the VIP area, I would say it was almost the same as the display of the pyromusical show is viewable from all angles. Mind you, it is even seen by onlookers from nearby cities living on elevated areas such as condominiums; minus the music though.

The Philippines opening presentation is to be admired after showcasing a number of different fireworks and varied styles. There was just a little glitch at the start which prompted the announcer/emcee to be restart. The opening pyromusical presentation lasted for 18 minutes.

It was followed by the United States of America (USA) after more than half an hour of waiting (Australia was on the previous schedule). The USA is the first of the eight competing countries in this international pyromusical competition.

The USA did well with noticeably bigger (width-span) fireworks. Although it is not to be compared with the first pyromusical (Phils), I can’t help but say that it was better in terms of being in-sync with the music which is a major factor in a ‘pyromusical‘ where the synchronization of sound and the fireworks is essential. The USA pyromusical lasted for about 17 minutes.

Competitively, we can’t compare it to the other 7 competitors yet as they have yet to be shown on the next four Sundays.

Here is the unofficial tentative schedule of the program*:

  1. Wow! We were there also. Nasa Dad’s and Mom’s Restaurant kami. Saan ka banda nakapwesto? Sayang di tayo nagkita. 🙂

I also think the Philippines’ presentation was much better than the US’. It has more variety of fireworks din and the timing was good – except for the “restart” thing. Hehe.

  2. @Vince – they had billboards and posters at SM MOA last week. Sorry, I wasn’t able to take note of the info. 🙁 I’m not sure either until when is that bargain.

@Pilipinas Got Talent – yeah, pretty much. 🙂
