St. Benedict Church
It was a sunny Thursday morning en route to Ayala Westgrove Heights in Silang, Cavite when we had a stopover at St. Benedict Church.
Actually, St. Benedict Church is conveniently located just outside Westgrove Heights so it’s hard for you to miss.

In contrast to most Catholic churches in Cebu that I have photographed, this one is quite different because of it’s modern architecture and design. This is because it’s a newly built church. It was intentionally designed as such to fit the landscape and community of the Ayala Westgrove Heights.
In fact, it was named St. Benedict Church in connection to the neighboring St. Scholastica’s College outside the subdivision. In Christian history, St. Benedict and St. Scholastica are twins.

St. Benedict Church-Westgrove was built to offer spiritual comfort and peace for the residents of Ayala Westgrove Heights. The church’s high ceilings, arches, courtyard and simple Mediterranean-inspired interiors and facade recall the Subiaco monastery St. Benedict himself established in Italy back then.

Red Rose Stained Glass
The photo above shows a huge red-rose-stained-glass which highlights the upper part of the confession room showering its white walls in red blood shade. Symbolically, this may pertain to the confessor’s washing of sins by the Almighty Savior.
At the church’s exterior, it is surrounded by open spaces, a fountain, trees, meditative walks, pathways, courtyard, and greenery - just like Ayala Westgrove Heights subdivision.

Being a new church, It is currently awaiting a formal assignment of a parish priest. St. Benedict Church-Westgrove also offers mass with schedules every Saturdays at 5:00pm and Sundays at 11:00am (subject to changes). Westgrove Heights is in Silang? So, St. Benedict Church na nasa picture sa itaas eh nasa Cavite. Totoo ba ‘to? Sana mapanatili ang ganda. Marahil talagang panahon ng umuwi….

They close the front doors when the Holy Mass starts, you are shown the side door to enter. The priest welcomes new comers to church.
