Journey vs Destination

Journey vs Destination

Do you still remember being impatient as kids during long travels whether in cars or on a plane? We usually pester our parents with the remark “are we there yet?

Mom and dad just takes a brief look at you at the car’s backseat and smiles. And you ask the same question again after 10 minutes.

Journey & Destination

As children, it is understandable that we focus on the destination; on getting “there“. We miss the whole point in traveling which is the “promise of a journey”. Traveling is fun, especially with people close to your heart with whom you want to share the awesome experience.

I remember a year ago when my wife-to-be kidded me about having our honeymoon on international shores. She loves traveling and I know it, so I promised her that I will make that wish come true.

More than the destination, it was a journey for both of us. Moreover, fulfilling a promise made it more special.

I remembered a distinctive ad where a natural dietary food supplement in the Philippines called “Circulan promised good health and good blood circulation to its customers. My then wife-to-be, who is a nurse by profession, instinctively joked that I should start to take one for our upcoming honeymoon.

Are we there yet? Are you? Have you had given promises to your loved ones that you haven’t fulfilled yet? Perhaps even a promise of good health for yourself this year? 2013 is not yet over and you still got more than a month to fulfill those promises.
