Bobble As Travel Companion

Introduced in February 2010 in the US, bobble is now in the Philippines. I found it as a handy companion for travelers like us from the recent press conference.

Water bobble has a replaceable and recyclable carbon filter which basically cleans up organic contaminants and chlorine from the water it contains. Its reusable drinking bottle is designed by renowned industrial artist Karim Rashid – the man behind numerous luxury goods and popular product designs for Christofle, Umbra, Vondom, and Hugo Boss, among others.

Whenever I leave Metro Manila either for a short or long travel, I always bring with me a bottle of mineral water since we are not always sure how accessible clean water is in our destination. This is even more true if it is my first time to go to the new place.

With bobble, it is an extra comfort to know that the water you are about to drink underwent some ‘extra‘ cleansing. It is not a ‘miracle water‘ converter, nonetheless. You should remember that bobble assumes you are about to drink potable water to start with. It just removes  organic contaminants through its carbon filter.

Potable water means the water is ‘drinkable‘. And even if it reduces chlorine content, it doesn’t mean you can scoop a bottle of water from the pool and drink it up. 🙂

Potable water from our faucet still contains some amount of chlorine as it went through a filtering process before it is delivered to our household pipes. It that sense, bobble helps in reducing the chlorine content from the potable water you are about to drink.

Making Water Better

I like it’s tag line as well – ‘Make Water Better‘ – because that is what it is exactly – making water better by filtering it a level further.  Its iconic shape and curvy form make it easier to carry around during workout sessions or general use. It’s not too far for bobble to become a status symbol as well. 😛

Bobble Price

Brought to the Philippines by TERRY S.A. INC. (TSA) —the same company that brought in lifestyle giants: Havaianas, Aura Athletica, David & Goliath, Dupé and Pininho— it is priced at P595 per 550ml container and filters at P345.00 each.

It’s a bit expensive actually. As a new product introduced in the Philippines, expect the law of supply and demand to initially dictate the price. But thinking more about it and considering the filter’s life span of 300 uses, your heath is worth it. Use once a day and you can use it for 10 months. 🙂

It comes in six vibrant colors – green, red, black, yellow, magenta (which looks like a pink), and blue. It will be available starting December 1, 2012 at Aura Athletica, Power Plant Mall. It has also won numerous industry awards including a Green Good Design Award in both 2010 and 2011.

Bobble can also be a hit with runners and running events held frequently in the Philippines. The 335ml would be available some time later, as well as the bigger 1 liter capacity bobble. I also like the soft bottle body. I just wonder how tough it is though, like upto what height can I drop it and not get broken?

I got the green bobble to remind me of the brand’s environment-friendly thrust. Make water bobble your travel companion as well. Check out bobble Philippines in Facebook at www.facebook.com/bobbleph.
