This is the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. No, we’re not in Ho Chi Minh City, it just so happened that the mausoleum was named after the then Communist Party of Vietnam chairman Ho Chi Minh. And also, this is in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Located at Ba Dinh Square, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was made in memoriam of chairman Ho Chi Minh.
According to our tour guide “Duc” (pronounced as Duke), the landmark was inaugurated in 1975 and its exterior is made of granite.
It’s also referred to as the Ba Đình Mausoleum by the locals and currently houses the embalmed body of the aforementioned hero. It is closed from time to time, sadly just like during our visit, for renovation and maintenance purposes.

Nearby the mausoleum is the Ho Chi Minh Museum which is home to the memories of Vietnam’s fight against foreign powers highlighting Ho Chi Minh as a central figure of influence and heroism.
