Rolling About Davao Zorb Park
It was an impromptu thing. The Davao Zorb Park was not in our original itinerary.
But when we found free time in the late afternoon of our first day in Davao, we grabbed the chance.
Together with the awesome Davao bloggers behind Avatar.ph who organized the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT) and other bloggers from Manila, we headed from the main City of Davao to the Zorb Park in Riverfront Corporate City passing through Diversion Road in Maa.
But first, Ria made some calls to the proper authorities in the person of Mr. Sonny Dizon who openly welcomed and approved of our surprise visit.
This would be my first time to try this kind of ball-rolling activity. Although I have seen a similar activity from the local adventure TV show ‘Sports Unlimited‘, they did it in Boracay.
Screaming aside, it looks real fun from the outside. Each ball can hold two persons. Leaving your footwear behind, you start by having your hands and feet strapped to the side of the ball. You can also enjoy the shrieking expressions of your companion as you are strapped facing each other.
The guides would advice you not to cheat by closing your eyes (which I did from time to time) to complete the experience.
So when I tried it, it was pure bliss…ok, not really. 🙂 I suggest don’t eat before the activity as your stomach can be a human washing machine of sorts. You don’t want to roll with what you just ate inside the giant ball.
It was fun! A similar adrenaline you would get from riding a roller coaster, but this one invovles more dynamism, albeit slower, because the ball could go sideward or some other way. That unpredictability is the key. The experience was amazing and exhilarating at the same time.
It’s one of the longest 45 seconds of your life. You’d want the 100m downhill run to end by the middle, but it doesn’t.
I also wished I’d strapped a compact digital camera to my body and took a rolling video within the ball.
Try the Zorb Ride when you visit Davao for P200 per roll. Davao Zorb Park is located at Riverfront Corporate City along Diversion Road, Maa, Davao City.
