The Philippines’ Boracay Island made world-famous for its pristine and white sand Boracay Beach placed second best overall in Asia according to Travel+ Leaisure‘s World’s Best Awards 2011,
Best Island in Asia
Preceded only by Bali in Indonesia, Boracay debuted in the recent World’s Best Awards 2011 by Travel+Leaisure.
Boracay outdid Thailand’s two best beaches Koh Samui and Phuket, in third and fourth places. Nonetheless, they improved from last year’s fourth and fifth places, respectively.
On the other hand, Bangkok was named world’s best city.
Furthermore, Boracay bumped-off Maldives which was last year’s second placer and settled only for fifth this year.
World Class
Boracay was ranked 4th worldwide in Top 10 Islands with Santorini of Greece grabbing the top spot.
Other winners include Singita Grumeti Reserves in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania as Best Hotel in the World, New York City as Best City in the United States and Canada while Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa in New Zealand is World’s Best Hotel Spa.
