St. Benedict Church in Ayala Westgrove Heights
It was a sunny Thursday morning en route to Ayala Westgrove Heights in Silang, Cavite when we had a stopover at St. Benedict Church.
Actually, St. Benedict Church is conveniently located just outside Westgrove Heights so it’s hard for you to miss.
In contrast to most Catholic churches in Cebu that I have photographed, this one is quite different because of it’s modern architecture and design. This is because it’s a newly built church. It was intentionally designed as such to fit the landscape and community of the Ayala Westgrove Heights.
In fact, it was named St. Benedict Church in connection to the neighboring St. Scholastica’s College outside the subdivision. In Christian history, St. Benedict and St. Scholastica are twins. 🙂
St. Benedict Church-Westgrove was built to offer spiritual comfort and peace for the residents of Ayala Westgrove Heights. The church’s high ceilings, arches, courtyard and simple Mediterranean-inspired interiors and facade recall the Subiaco monastery St. Benedict himself established in Italy back then.
The photo above shows a huge red-rose-stained-glass which highlights the upper part of the confession room showering its white walls in red blood shade. Symbolically, this may pertain to the confessor’s washing of sins by the Almighty Savior.
At the church‘s exterior, it is surrounded by open spaces, a fountain, trees, meditative walks, pathways, courtyard, and greenery – just like Ayala Westgrove Heights subdivision.

They close the front doors when the Holy Mass starts, you are shown the side door to enter. The priest welcomes new comers to church.

hi po! I just want to inquire if we are aloud to have a baptismal here kahit na taga Alabang kami? The last time I called dapat daw sa westgrove ka nakatira. nabigla ako sa nakausap ko Kasi hindi daw aloud pag Hindi residente dito. naisip ko nman grabe discrimination ito bakit ganun may Pambayad naman kami ah and after 2 or 3 yrs sa nuvali na kami Titira so it’s almost 6mins to 7mins drive na lang. Try ko ulit Tumawag and sana hindi yung girl ulit ang makausap ko my bad is that I didn’t get the name of the girl. Sayang!:(

We just attended the mass at St. Benedict Church last Saturday. And all i can say is thank you for welcoming us (me and my whole family), would you believe the parish priest is the one welcoming the church goers. He was standing at the front door to welcome the people and he is very accommodating . About the mass very solemn and organized, even the communion (very organize). He even invited my sons to be an altar boys (in which we are looking forward). After the mass when little (even big) kids have to bless the priest hand, you have to fall in line and father will give you little surprise. We are looking forward to attend mass there regularly since we live nearby not in West groove though… Thank you very much Father (sorry i wasn’t able to get your name to address you properly) See you on Saturday afternoon at 6 pm for your mass.
