Booking Fairmont Hotel Using Traveloka
I’ve discovered a travel staycation strategy recently. For a few days, I was checking out hotels to book for a weekend staycation on a new mobile application called Traveloka.
As is, the app already promises one of the cheapest rates at anytime you book. But aside from that, I saw a pattern among the hotels located in different cities, or should I say ‘business districts‘.

Stay on Business Hotels on Weekends
Although I was primarily looking for hotels on a weekend, I also got to easily view the ‘weekday‘ rates on this Traveloka app.
Ordinarily, weekend hotel rates are more expensive than weekdays because it is at this time when people, and families in general, go on a brief vacation for rest and recreation. But the same is NOT true for hotels in the business district. Makati City Hotels in the Philippines is a good example of this.
Moreso, it is during weekdays when the hotels are full because businessmen, and a bulk of the workforce, is in the area. But when weekend strikes, they’re almost a ghost town. Hence, hotel rates from Fridays to Sundays are lower .

Staycation @ Fairmont Makati Hotel
With that in mind, me and my wife booked a hotel room at Fairmont Hotel in Makati, a business district in Metro Manila.
Booking through Traveloka was breeze (feel free to check the step-by-step, screen-by-screen process we went through upto payment towards the second half of the article).
Me and my wife have been to Fairmont and Raffles Hotels a number of times already. It’s either for meetings, media events, or conferences; but we never stayed in the hotel. Basically, this was our first time to stay here.

Upon checking-in, I thought they’d ask for our booking reference number (or e-ticket) from the Traveloka app transaction, but I was wrong. They just asked for my full name and an ID card. The receptionist checked her eletronic records and viola, we’re done!
Being a Friday / weekend, and knowing at the back of my mind that the hotel might not be full, we tried our luck and asked for a room upgrade.
And it was granted! 🙂
We’re just not too sure if they are also Let’s Go Sago subscribers because aside from upgrading us to a Deluxe Room, they gave us a corner room overseeing the pool!

Furthermore, the spacious room of over 40sqm. had a king-sized bed, a huge workstation, a 40″ LED TV, and an amenities cabinet full of coffee and tea drawers. And of course, a mini-refrigerator. There were 3 sets of closet space complete with laundry bags, iron boards, etc.
The bathroom had a clean bathtub and separate shower and toilet; something not too common in hotels. The toiletries were also complete.

Boooking via Traveloka
Traveloka is a new hotel and flight booking application that makes our life easier. Even more so as they also have a mobile application aside from the website where you can transact as well.

Although it was my first time to use the app, I find it convenient to use with a friendly user interface (UI). Beginners could learn it easily.
Here are some more screenshots and step-by-step guide of how we booked a hotel via Traveloka:

I’m now excited to try Traveloka for booking a flight next! 🙂
You can download the mobile application via Google Play for Android or Apple Store for iOS smartphones. They also have frequent promos and discount vouchers on the promo code section which you might want to catch and avail both for hotels or flight bookings.

Needless to say, it was a memorable weekend staycation at Fairmont Hotel and booking was made easier with Traveloka! Thank you to Fairmont Makati Hotel for the upgrade and awesome corner room!
