Discovery Samal Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
In a spectacle that captured the essence of the holiday season, Discovery Samal, a 5-star resort nestled in the Island Garden City of Samal, hosted a dazzling Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony last December 1, 2023.
With the theme, “An Enthralling Tale with the Nutcrackers,” the event marked the beginning of a month-long celebration filled with festive cheer, enchanting decorations and heartwarming moments.
Against the backdrop of the resort’s picturesque landscape, guests gathered for an evening that unfolded like a village filled with an enchanting tale brought to life in the tropical paradise of Samal. The towering Christmas tree, adorned with nutcrackers, toy drums, elegant ornaments and shimming fairy lights, transformed the resort into a haven of festive splendor.

Guests were treated to soothing music with a live saxophone performance by Alvin Go while having light cocktails. The event was opened by the angelic voices of the internationally renowned University of Mindanao Chorale and a world-class performance of Sugar Plum Fairy and Russian Dance by En Avant Dance and Arts Centre.
Discovery Samal showcased its striking facilities, festive offerings, and heartwarming partnership with Our Lady of Victory Training Center—a home for disabled individuals as their official beneficiary.
Discovery Samal spared no effort in creating an ambiance of refined elegance. The Christmas tree stood as a symbol of timeless tradition and the joyous spirit of the season. The owner, Ms. Maridol Gonzalez, Discovery Hospitality Corporation’s President, Jose Parreno, Discovery Samal’s General Manager, Stanley Lau, IGACOS’ Mayor Uy, DOT Regional Director, Tanya Tan, along with Discovery Samal’s Coco and Pearl led the ceremony as it was the time to illuminate the dazzling Christmas tree.
Blue Phoenix Drum and Bell Corps performed an awe-striking rendition of Christmas songs to signal the start of the holiday cheer on the island.
The celebration extended beyond the illumination of the tree, as guests were treated to a delectable array of culinary delights from the resort’s culinary team headed by Executive Chef Daniel Rayos as they curated a festive menu featuring seasonal favorites and indulgent treats for a feast of the senses.
It was an evening of heartfelt and magical atmosphere, filling the air with melodic renditions of classic holiday tunes. Everyone reveled in the harmonious gathering, capturing the true essence of Christmas—a time for joy, togetherness and creating lasting memories.
