Discovering Skyscanner

I was surprised when I learned about Skyscanner last week. As online as I am and being a travel blogger at that for almost 5 years now, how come I knew about it only recently?

Simply put, Skyscanner is an online search tool specific for current and real-time flight options where you can search for your destination’s best-priced flights to book across different carriers given your preferred date/s.

It’s like the Google search for flights around the world. It can even include the ongoing seat sales from most of the budget airlines I know in the Philippines! If only I knew about it when my then girlfriend and I were searching for the most cost-efficient flight to Hong Kong for our honeymoon earlier this year.

As a global travel search site which started in 2003, Skyscanner is available in 40 countries around the world including the Philippines and can be customized in 30 languages  including Tagalog.

Aside from flights, it also provides comparisons for hotels and cars-for-hire which is a big market in other countries such as Australia.

It is the leading travel search website in Europe and 3rd worldwide with more than 30 million visitors a month. The tool is also available through mobile applications downloadable for Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and Windows 8.

I am one of the 20 million down-loaders of their free mobile app to date. I got to try it in my iPad as well. I actually liked the mobile interface better than the website.

Try it for yourself and rest assured, you will find it helpful and handy as I did. Know more about our own local Skyscanner Philippines in Facebok at SkyscannerPhilippines or their website at www.skyscanner.com.ph
