Made extra special to commemorate Philippine National Hero Jose Rizal’s 150th birthday, Malacañang recently declared June 20, 2011 as a Philippine Holiday - a special non-working holiday to be exact.
An alternative vacation spot from far flung beaches and tourist destinations in the provinces are nearby man-made resorts. And for those in Metro Manila, Club Manila East in Taytay Rizal is one of the choices.
The Holy Week is a religious holiday in the Philippines that includes traditional spiritual practices and a long break from work. Most urban settlers take this opportunity to go to far places and provinces while going on a leisure vacation.
Raining or not, summer has definitely arrived in the Philippines, albeit belatedly. But this didn’t stop me and a group of friends from taking some time off for a vacation at Philippine’s summer capital - Baguio - as early as last month. We stayed in Eurotel Baguio.
The latest Earth Hour was observed last March 26, 2011. It so happened that I was in Singapore. It was something interesting because it’s my first Earth Hour outside of the Philippines.
