4th World Pyro Olympics Starts Today

The 4th World Pyro Olympics (WPO) starts today, Nov 21 and will have 5 weekly fireworks shows until December 19, 2009.

This year’s host venue is at Fort Open Grounds, Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Philippines.
“The World Pyro Olympics is an annual competition amongst the most prestigious fireworks companies in the world. The event is one of the largest and most intense international fireworks competitions of the world.” – quoted from Wikipedia
Moving from last year’s Mall of Asia (MOA) venue, this years’ World PyroOlympics promises to give more fireworks as new particpating countries Japan and returning participants:
- United States
- Australia
- South Korea
Other participating countries who participated in last year’s 3rd World Pyro Olympics are:
- Canada
- China
- Germany
- Italy
- Philippines
Aside from the dazzling fireworks display of World Pyro Olympics 2009, the show incorporates fantastic musical scores prepared by each country. Each night host two countries with the final and fifth night to be concluded by the Philippine team. The schedule of countires are as follows:
- Nov 21 – Germany & China
- Nov 28 – Canada & Australia
- Dec 05 – Japan & Italy
- Dec 12 – South Korea & USA
- Dec 19 – Fellowship of Fire from the Philippines
Venue gates open as early as 2:30pm, Drum & Bugle Competition is at 4pm while the fireworks start 7pm (1st Pyromusical Competition/Show) & 8pm (2nd Pyro Musical Competition/Show). It’s conveniently located behind Bonifacio High Street and Serendra.

Tips:
- Please be reminded that some regular routes are closed to control effecient traffic.
- Come Early
- You may opt to take the Bus public transportation instead

I remember watching it the first time with my college friends. It was a great show, but you have to deal with traffic, noisy and crazy crowd, and if you don’t have a car.. walking for a good spot.
We walked from MOA to Heritage Hotel after the show. And I did the same thing again the following show with the family naman. Hahaha. Good times. I love fireworks display. It’s so Christmas-y and NewYear-y. LOL
