June 30 Special Holiday Declared; Long Weekends Ahead
Outgoing president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declares June 30, 2010, Wednesday, as a special non-working Philippine holiday nationwide.

This was made a holiday due to the inauguration of the incoming new Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and the turnover ceremonies involved.
This comes just a few days after the June 12 Philippine Independence Day which was also moved to June 14 for reasons of holiday economics.
Aside from the aforementioned Philippine holiday long weekend, Pasig residents could expect another one soon as Pasig City celebrates Pasig Day as a special non-working holiday this coming July 2. Likewise, Manila City celebrates the same with Manila Day about a week earller on June 24.
