The St. Augustine Parish Church of Bantay near Vigan can be found in the province of Ilocos Sur . It was built in 1590 and was named after its patron saint - St. Augustine of Hippo.
It also became a home to the Statue of Our Lady of Charity, the Patroness of Ilocandia, since 1956. The church’s design reminds visitors of the old Spanish architecture using bricks and slime as local indigenous materials. The St. Augustine Parish Church is also sometimes referred to as the Shrine of Nuestra Senora de la Caridad or simply San Augustine Church and Bell Tower.
