“Let’s Go Surfing,” the Anniversary Surfing Clinic

The wait is over, finally it’s revealed. LetsGoSago.net, one of the newest travel and dining blog in the Philippines, is turning ONE exactly two months from today. To celebrate this momentous anniversary, Sago is organizing a charity surfing clinic for beginners. It is happening at Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan, La Union on August 8 & 9 15 &16, 2009.
August 01 Update: Click Here!
Discover the rush of surfing through the safe one-on-one surf lessons with Billabong Surf School as administered by head surf instructor and one of the Philippines’ Top Surfers – Luke Landrigan (Men’s Health Cover for May 2009).
Accommodations will be at the San Juan Surf Resort just beside the surfing school. All proceeds of the event will go to a charity institution.
This heads-up information is posted for interested participants to block their schedule and to signify their interest to participate by answering this survey. There is no commitment yet at this point in the survey.
Regular cost estimate is about P2500 per person which includes overnight aircon accommodations, surf board rental, one-on-one surf clinic and MLA-LU-LU-MLA private transportation. On the other hand, Sago intends to bring the cost down through sponsors.
All details, final costs, and registration procedures on how to participate in the event (probably similar to WordCamp08) shall be announced on the 8th of July, a Sago Day. The event is also open to interested sponsors and supporters as well. Specific sponsorships for transportation, accommodation, surfing clinic, and night beach party (Aug 08) expenses (and booze) are specifically up for grabs.
So what to do now?
– Are you interested to participate in the event? Answer This Survey and watch out for the July 8 post details.
– Are you an interested sponsor who thinks this is the coolest blogger surfing event ever? Email Sago at [email protected]

Quick FAQs
1) I am not a blogger, can I still join?
Answer: Definitely!
2) I don’t know how to surf, can I still join?
Answer: Of course, that is why it’s entitled surfing clinic. It’s actually for beginners with zero experience. We don’t actually recommend it for those who already know surfing.
3) I don’t know how to swim, can I still surf?
Answer: Yes, La Union is a famous surf spot for beginning surfers due to its beginner-friendly waves. Aside from having a one-on-one instructor (meaning his focus is all on you), the beginner’s surf spot water level is only 5ft deep such that even if you fall of the board to the water, just stand up on your feet and your head will be pretty much above the waters.
4) I’m a guy and I don’t have the hots for Luke Landrigan, are there any lady instructors?
Answer: No, there are no lady instructors yet. But this I only have to say: Luke Landrigan means more lady participants. Do the math. (I can also introduce you to Michelle “Tikoy” Tan of Travel Factor) 🙂
