Bicol’s Pinangat Spot

It’s been years since I’ve been to Bicol. I miss my heart-thumping first adventure swim with the ‘Butanding’ whale shark in Donsol and the short tours around Legaspi and Naga.

I’m reminiscing our tour around Legaspi’s churches, tourist destinations and shopping stalls. And of course the food spots.

I’m reminded of these things after receiving this email from a friend about Small Talk Café and a photo of their pinangat pasta which I attached in this article. Pinoy-style Pasta Pinangat is made with gabi or taro leaves stuffed with shrimp or fish then cooked in gata (coconut milk) and spices. While Pinangat is a classic Filipino dish, they gave it an innovative spin and added the creaminess of pasta alfredo to come up with pinangat pasta. 🙂 They also serve adobong puti (adobo with gata). Small Talk Cafe can be found at #51 Doña Aurora Street in Legazpi.

Back then, I went there on a 10-hour bus trip. In the next, I hope to try the plane route with Cebu Pacific. Cebu Pac flies to Legazpi thrice daily from Manila and thrice weekly from Cebu. Small Talk Café is surely in my foodie list now; but after my second meeting with Mr. Butanding. 🙂
